The Florida Prevention Association (FPA) grew out of the necessity to provide a united voice for
the diverse array of prevention service providers throughout the State of Florida. During FPA's
inaugural year, there will be three major focus areas:
• Heighten public awareness and emphasize the importance of prevention services with a
concentration on the cost and benefit of such services.
• Develop a mechanism to better inter-connect the vast array of prevention programs and
services through out the state at the local community level, thus leveraging and maximizing
existing county, state, federal and foundation resources.
• Provide legislative, community and corporate advocacy for prevention services.
The guiding principle of FPA is to ensure that front end (prevention) services are the cornerstone
foundation to addressing community issues. This will be accomplished through better inter-connectivity
of diverse prevention services in an effort to comprehensively serve Florida's population.
